Rebecca MacKinnon: Supporting the Rights of World´s Internet Users

Isabel Gahren of Internet & Gesellschaft Co:llaboratory sent me an invitation to an awesome event with Rebecca MacKinnon which I like to publish here because it is open for all interested people. FutureChallenges is engaged in the Internet & Gesellschaft Co:llaboratory’s initiative “Human rights and Internet”.

In the context of the 5. Initiative “Human rights and Internet” of the Co:llaboratory we would like to cordially invite interested people to a joint evening with the author, journalist and internet freedom activist Rebecca MacKinnon.

Rebecca MacKinnon, also a co-founder of the citizen media network Global Voices and Chinese Internet censorship expert, will introduce her new book “Consent of the Networked”. The book addresses the question of how technology should be structured and governed to support the rights and liberties of all the world’s internet users. The evening also provides the possibility to buy the book at a discount.

The joint evening with Rebecca MacKinnon takes place in English on:

Wednesday, 29.02.2012 at 06.00pm – 08.00pm at PLAY am Hauptbahnhof (next to Main Train Station in Berlin: Washingtonplatz 1 – 10557 Berlin)

The participation is limited to 30 people. Therefore, we would like to ask you to bindingly RSVP at our RSVP-form.  Afterwards, you are invited to discuss with Ms. MacKinnon different topics on “Human Rights and Internet”.

We would gladly collect your questions in advance via Google Moderator.

We also hope to be able to welcome more Global Voices Members as well as Jermyn Brooks, the Chair of Global Network Initiative (GNI).
