Death Threat on the Roll – Shisha Culture in Pakistan.

Written by on . Published in Published in News. Death threat on .

There has been a sudden rise in the number of patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pakistan and other Middle East countries in the last few years. The reason behind the sharp increase of such diseases is mostly related to tobacco smoking – usually through Shisha, which, according to the teenagers, is the “coolest and the trendy way of smoking tobacco”. Sadly, Shisha has become a viral trend in the country and people keep on becoming tobacco smoke engines without knowing its harmful effects. Shisha is thought to be safe because the smoke is filtered through bubbling water before it reaches the smoker; however, there is no such thing as safe tobacco.

Here is a video regarding the issue: Shisha culture in Pakistan. It was shot in one of the local Shisha cafes of Karachi city, and seemed to be the hottest hang-out spot in the area.
